The Brief

We were asked to produce interactive AV content for the new Engine Rooms exhibition at Tower Bridge to tell the story of the elegant engineering of the bridge and the people that worked there, helping visitors to engage with the inner workings of the iconic landmark and understand its role as a working bridge.

We created an interactive touchscreen game encouraging visitors to keep the bridge running smoothly by stoking the boilers, oiling the machinery and choosing the right time to begin a bridge lift, together with a series of animations strategically positioned at key points along the visitor route explaining each part of the process in detail and how it fits within the overall system.

To tell the personal stories of the bridge from the people who have and still do work there, we created two short films, one an elegant and emotive study of the working bridge past and present, and the other a compilation of personal oral history accounts combined with images from the Bridge’s fascinating photographic collection.
